Examines the changing occupational structure of employment in Scotland for the period 2001-2008, using data from the Labour Force Survey. Focuses on: gender differences; part-time and full-time workers; the growth of the knowledge economy; labour market polarisation with respect to labour demand and skills; structural changes in industry; and the qualitative demand for labour on the part of employers.
