Looking inside the perpetual-motion machine: Job and worker flows in OECD countries (OECD social, employment and migration working papers no 95)

Uses cross-country comparable data on both job and worker flows to examine key determinants of these flows and of their cross-country differences. Defines the concepts of gross job and worker reallocation. Looks at cross-country/cross-industry patterns of gross job and worker reallocation. Examines the patterns and explores the contribution of start-ups, shutdowns and continuers. Examines the roll of specific firm characteristics, such as size and age in both gross job and worker flows. Looks at worker flows and the role of individual worker characteristics on flows.
