Equal opportunities: Scottish Executive policy - disability (SPICe briefing 06/88)

Provides an overview of Scottish Executive policy and practice developments on disability equality from 1999 to 2006. Includes an examination of devolved and reserved legislation in this area, and a review of devolved policy areas, focusing on challenging attitudes, justice, communities, health, education, and employment. Looks at data sources on Scotland's disabled population, employment and disability, transport provision for disabled people, translating and interpreting provision, and access to public services using British sign language. Summarises the forums that the Executive has established to facilitate discussion and consultation.
