Document Abstract

Design skills and the UK's Industrial Strategy

Reports on how effective the education system is at fostering creative problem solving in the design sector, based on a series of discussions with industry experts. Describes how the design sector is a vital part of the UK economy and identifies upcoming challenges such as technological advancements and the UK leaving the EU. Argues that design and technology is vital to science, technology, engineering, and maths subjects and that Britain can compete effectively in these fields by promoting design and technology. Concludes by making several recommendations for both the government and the education sector, all of which focus on promoting design and technology and engaging with industry.
