Engagement with young people on the development of the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) strategy

Explores the experience and attitudes by young people to engaging with science, technology engineering and mathematics (STEM), and to taking up STEM-related jobs and careers, drawing on online activities and a national survey involving young people across Scotland. Explains the context for the study and the methodology used. Presents key findings from the online element, outlining young people's views relating to future job/career opportunities in STEM, salaries, travel opportunities, progression and enjoyment. Provides the responses to the national survey, including young people's views on the study of STEM subjects, job opportunities and STEM careers. Presents conclusions, highlighting the mixed experience of young people of STEM education/training and the resulting varied attitudes towards STEM-related careers.
