UK working lives: the CIPD job quality index - survey report 2018

Examines the quality of work in the UK, drawing on the results of a survey of workers across different sectors. Outlines the background and rationale to the development of the CIPD job quality index, the approach to research and the dimensions of job quality explored. Presents key findings for each of the seven dimensions: pay and benefits; terms of employment; job design and the nature of work; social support and cohesion; health and wellbeing; work-life balance; and employee voice. Considers the relative importance of the seven dimensions for job quality outcomes, and the relationships between them. Presents conclusions, highlighting general trends and priority areas for action to improve job quality.
