Document Abstract

Career pathway tracker: 35 years of supporting early career research fellows

Reports on the career trajectories of recipients of University Research Fellowships and Dorothy Hodgkin Fellowships: both administered by the Royal Society. Outlines the format of these fellowships, explaining that the two fellowships have supported over 1600 researchers. Highlights scientific and career achievements using case study examples before focusing on four key areas: leadership, commercialisation, public engagement, and policy contribution. Argues that these fellowships have supported early career researchers in both a practical and psychological sense. Concludes that the impact of these two Royal Society Fellowships are wholly positive, both within and out with academia.
