Evaluating employer career interventions in English schools, IN Journal of the National Institute for Career Education and Counselling, No 42 Apr 2019, pp9-17

Evaluates the impact of employer career interventions for year ten and eleven students in England. Describes how the government has emphasised the importance of this type of career guidance over traditional forms in facilitating strong career learning outcomes. Uses a quantitative methodology, analysing the effects of employer career interventions versus vocational guidance interviews. Shows that the latter is more effective in fostering a sense of vocational identity among year ten and eleven students, as well as enhancing their career decision-making abilities. Concludes that a combination of approaches to career guidance is most effective and suggests further research be undertaken to identify the best combination.
